After spending many months in South Africa, far, far away from Monaco, Princess Charlene flew to Switzerland. But on the evening of New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2021, she was not alone.
She decided to take a step back to focus on her mental health. Exhausted by these months of isolation in South Africa, caused by an operation of the ENT sphere, Charlene of Monaco took another look at the Rock … to leave it very quickly. It is in Switzerland that she has finally been admitted, of her own free will, in a clinic to follow a “therapeutic retreat” in order to fight against this depression that is eating her up. And the 43-year-old sovereign can count, despite the distance, on the support of her husband, Prince Albert II, and their two children Jacques and Gabriella.
Charlene of Monaco did not spend the end of 2021 alone. Albert, Jacques and Gabriella came to visit her for the Christmas holidays. What we did not know is that the princess also had the right to a moment of intimacy with her husband – while the rumors wanted them separated. As revealed by Closer magazine on Friday, January 14, 2022, Prince Albert returned to his sweetheart on December 30, to spend New Year’s Eve alone. Forty-eight hours, in total, which have brought the couple broken by the miles.
According to a person close to the Palace of Monaco, Princess Charlene still needs to “take a few months” for herself to ensure a speedy recovery. But who knows? Maybe she’ll be back on her feet sooner than expected and will be able to attend the traditional celebration of St. Devote, the patron saint of the Monegasque principality, which she usually spends with her family, near her children, who she misses so much. She had, after all, missed their birthdays as well as the national holiday. But to find out, we will have to wait until next January 26 and 27, date of the famous ceremony organized, among others, at the cathedral of Monaco.
