The 43-year-old princess quickly packed her bags to go to a specialized establishment kept secret. A new departure that her husband Albert II of Monaco had to explain to their two twins, Gabriella and Jacques. In an interview with People magazine, the head of state confided on this delicate episode to apprehend for a father. “They knew she was tired. That she was not quite herself. And then I told them that she needed time to rest, that she is now somewhere not too far away and that we can go see her one day,” he said, adding that the two royal children had “understood.
If Charlene did leave South Africa, she was not able to attend the traditional Monegasque National Day on November 19. An absence very noticed within the Principality, especially since the former Olympic swimmer is in the grip of “a state of deep general fatigue”. “Information on the recovery of the princess will be communicated in the coming weeks and before the Christmas holidays,” said the Princely Palace in a statement.
