Barely back from South Africa, Charlene of Monaco has retired to convalescence because of her health and fatigue. Her children, Jacques and Gabriella, “know that she is tired” and “understand” the absence of their mother.
Just arrived, just left. Charlene of Monaco retired to convalescence just days after returning from South Africa, where she spent eight months. In an interview with People magazine, Prince Albert said that the 43-year-old princess is suffering from “deep exhaustion, both emotional and physical,” before adding that “her recovery will require clinical care lasting at least several weeks. If Albert can only deplore this new absence of his wife, the first affected are their children, the twins Jacques and Gabriella… who react rather well. According to their father: “They knew that she was tired, that she was not quite herself. And then I told them that she needed some time to rest, and that she is now somewhere not too far away, that we can go and see her one day. They understood that.”
“They know she’ll talk to them very soon. They miss her, of course, but they understand. Kids that age understand.” Prince Albert assures that he and the twins will visit her bedside, at her still-secret recovery location. “I can’t give you a timeline on that. Not in the next few days, certainly, but whenever we get the medical green light.”
I know we’re not alone
As for him, his faith has “helped him considerably,” the prince confides, in addition to being “surrounded by family, friends and a great staff, I know we are not alone. We have the support, love and friendship around us from these people and the citizens of Monaco. I know we will get through this,” he concluded.
